What is a Health Smart payment plan?

Our plans allow you to break down the cost of an expensive purchase into a series of affordable monthly installments. This allows you to complete your purchase with confidence.

How do I apply?

You can apply for a Health Smart payment plan in three ways:

  1. At a healthcare provider location using our desktop or mobile applications.
  2. Online from your healthcare provider’s website (for participating locations).
  3. On Health Smart’s website here: Apply Now 

You will receive a response within a matter of seconds indicating the amount of funds we can grant you.

How quickly do I need to use my approved credit?

Your credit approval can be used for up to 365 days. You can fund multiple purchases over time with your credit approval. After 365 days, we require a new application.

How do I complete the transaction?

To complete the transaction, we need to make sure we know who you are! Please bring two pieces of ID when you visit your healthcare provider. One of these pieces needs to be a photo ID from a government agency, such as a Drivers Licence or Passport. Please note that we are not permitted to accept health cards as photo ID in Ontario, Manitoba, or Quebec.

What if my healthcare provider is not registered with Health Smart?

You can go ahead and apply for credit here. Once you are approved, we will contact the healthcare provider you specified on the application form and help complete the transaction.

Is there a minimum or maximum funding amount?

Health Smart will fund as little as $300 and as much as $25,000, depending on your credit. You can also fund multiple transactions after being approved by Health Smart.

Which payment plan terms are available?

Health Smart offers affordable payment plans ranging from 3 months to 60 months.

What are the interest rates on Health Smart payment plans?

Your healthcare provider may choose to offer 0% interest as a promotion and benefit for customers. If your provider is not offering 0% interest, our interest rates start from 7.95% and the exact rate depends on the quality of your credit. The large majority of our customers pay less than typical credit card interest rates. Our goal is to provide financing options for as many applicants as possible – and always to provide an affordable monthly payment!

 

Our plans also include a small monthly processing fee. We don’t charge any other service fees, prepayment fees, or any other hidden fees. We also never charge backdated interest. We seek to have the highest standards of transparency so that charges are always fully clear to our customers. The exact APR that applies to your transaction will be calculated before you finalize your transaction.

Can Health Smart funding be used in conjunction with my insurance or benefits coverage?

Yes! You can fund any portion of the cost through Health Smart. Many benefit plans cover only a portion of the cost of a treatment – or not at all. Health Smart exists to help you pay for these out-of-pocket expenses.

Are there any restrictions on what Health Smart will fund?

Health Smart will fund any service or product that our healthcare provider partners supply.

Does Health Smart allow co-signers?

Yes! If you need more funds that Health Smart can grant you on your own, a co-signer is a great way to get access to a higher credit limit.

How do I make my payments?

Your payments will be set up as convenient pre-authorized debits from your chequing account.

Can I prepay my outstanding balance?

Yes! Health Smart payment plans are repayable in full or in part at any time, with no penalty. To make an extra payment, you can either login to your online account or call us at 1-877-276-2780.

If I have questions about my account, do I contact my healthcare provider or Health Smart?

Please contact Health Smart directly, as your healthcare provider does not have access to all the details of your account.

Is my personal information secure with Health Smart?

Yes, protecting your personal information is very important to us. We encrypt sensitive data. We also maintain physical, electronic, and other safeguards to protect your information. We do not sell your information to anyone. You can read our detailed Privacy Policy here.


Using Health Smart as a Provider

How do I sign my business up to offer Health Smart payment plans?

Please fill out our merchant enrolment form and we will contact you right away. The process is simple and you can be up and running with Health Smart in a matter of minutes!

What does it cost for my business to use Health Smart?

It costs nothing to sign up and start offering Health Smart financing to customers! There is a cost to you only if you choose to offer a promotional payment plan to your customers, such as 0% interest financing. If you expect your customers to pay the interest, Health Smart is completely free to you as the provider – and allows you to save the credit card processing fees.

How quickly do I get paid by Health Smart?

Health Smart funds its provider partners on the next business day after the transaction is authorized.

Is there any credit risk to me as the provider?

No! Health Smart bears the risk if customers do not make their payments to us.

One of my customers was not approved for enough credit. What should I do?

Please call or email us at any time. Our team will quickly review the situation and do their very best to approve credit for the customer. We also allow customers to partner with co-signers to complete a transaction.
